Sensitive Santa

The holidays are a magical time for families to experience the wonder of Santa and to create heartfelt memories together. Understanding that children with sensory sensitivities may require a more customized experience, Longview Mall will offer Sensitive Santa®, a sensory-friendly holiday event, on December 5 from 9 am to 10:30 am.

During Sensitive Santa, families will have the opportunity to meet Santa prior to the town center opening for a quieter, more subdued experience, with the opportunity to support Autism Speaks. With each purchase of a photo with Santa, a portion of proceeds will be donated to support the mission of Autism Speaks’ important research and advocacy.

“The magic of the holiday season is meant for all, and at Longview Mall, we are honored to once again provide a welcoming environment where every family feels included,” said Kelly Overby, GM at Longview Mall.  “Sensitive Santa offers a special moment for families to experience the traditional winter celebrations in a calm, quiet environment.”

This family-friendly event allows children with special needs to experience the annual magic of the holidays in safe, controlled environment, featuring alternative seating options for children taking photos with Santa, as well as muted lights, quiet music, and reduced center traffic to help lessen sensory stimuli. Longview Mall will have puzzles and coloring sheets for children to work on until it is their turn to visit with Santa.

The event is free to attend and photographs are available for purchase. Families are encouraged to RSVP in advance by reserving a ticket.
